Though this is not an "earth shelter" it is a self contained natural home with "earth shelter" elements that represents more of what I can do for you as your architect. I have worked with earth shelters, rammed earth, straw bale and all aspects of an environmentally friendly home. The organic design blends its form into the natural desert landscape with colors, materials and overall design. The HOME grows out of the living rock using a wall that wraps the living area and encloses the master bedroom. The black lava rock wall integrating the form where it makes contact with the earth the curving lines of the black lava rock seems to flow through the room and into the earth. The creation of outdoor and indoor living spaces that blend and can function together increases the connection of home and site while increasing the living space within the home. The Passive solar design maximizes energy efficiency and reduces the need for mechanical equipment. This HOME allows the owners to enjoy the desert environment without being driven indoors by the extreme temperatures. . I have done work all over the intermountain region Utah, Colorado, Idaho and Nevada.
