Teresópolis and the County of Teresópolis has about 200,000 inhabitants.It is located in the Atlantic Mountain Range(approx. 3000 ft )about one and a half hours(by first class, mostly four lane, highway)from the center of Rio De Janeiro(1 hour, 15 minutes from the international airport).

It is a historic mountain resort town with no heavy or polluting industry. It has historically been used as a weekend and vacation destination for "CARIOCAS"(people from RIO).
