human power

This idea for helping to power an earth house originally can be traced to my sister. She said to me one day, "Why not find a way to power things by using bicycles and such." That was a few years back. I've finally gotten a little time to start doing research on this interesting concept. One has to realize of course that human beings are 'unreliable' sources of power. One person cannot provide consistent power generation for extended periods. But at the same time there is something to be said for contributing power back to the system. And with WLED's or White Light Emitting Diodes, one can now power these to provide enough light for an entire evening using only human strength and ingenuity. And if a person exercises anyway why not 'tap' that energy?
